Argyle plays the Hawthorne Hideaway

We’re playing out! Thursday the 16th of June at 9:00 PM, Argyle will throw down with classics from Team Building Exercises, and new tunes from the as-yet-only-tentatively-titled upcoming album. It’s hot. Tix are $5 and the venue is very cool. 2221 SE Hawthorne. They said we can play as long as we want. Which I’m thinking ought to be a nice long time. Hope to see you there!

Back at the Goodfoot – Hot Damn!

Goodfoot Goodfoot Goodfoot…  It just feels good to say the word.  By far my favorite venue in Portland, this joint has its own Hammond B3 organ for us to use.  Come and watch as people explain to their companions the intricacies of the Leslie rotating speaker!  You’ll know because you’ll see them pointing at it, then twirling their finger around in the air.  That is, IF THEY CAN STOP GETTING DOWN!!! https://thegoodfoot.com/

Argyle will be joined by Spirits in Computers, an amazing power trio based in Portland Oregon. Influenced by bands Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Yes, and Ty Segall, Spirits in Computers aims to deliver a unique blend of sounds to inspire motionless movement (aside from a jaw drop).  http://spiritsincomputers.com

Colton Joob 9 Recordings!

Greetings, Argylephiles,

Our friend Dean invited us down to Colton for his 9th annual Colton Jubilee this past weekend.  We shared the stage with Band of Comerados and Zen Hunter, two super sweet bands you should really check out.  But over and above all the free-flowing beer, open flames, and brownies, Dean recorded the entire evening, and it sounds pretty great.  So please check out these MP3s, courtesy of Dean!

Argyle & Zindu at the Goodfoot 7/11/18

Argyle is back once again to bring you the funky instrumental bangers you love! This time we’re teaming up with Portland’s Zindu to give you a double dose of groove, jazzfunk, fusion, and more! Don’t miss this humpday throwdown!

Funkish Blog Love

Many thanks to Joe at Funkish Blog for including us in his tops from 2017!  Here’s what he had to say:

Shape Shifters: The Best Instrumental Funk Songs of 2017 — Eclectic, Funky Music From Around The World

Argyle, from Portland, is an instrumental Jazz-Funk quartet with a soulful style. Their adventurous performances stem from roots in Soul Jazz, Hip-Hop, prog, Afrobeat, psychedelic rock and old school Funk. They’ve surely wrought some dopeness on their 2017 debut, Team Building Exercise! “Ooh Mami” is a funky jam with heaps of greasy organ, a blistering back beat, and finger-lickin’ funky guitar goodness. I can’t wait to hear more from these cats in years to come!

Starday Tavern April 6, 2018

Sure, you love Argyle.  You enjoy the sweet sounds of uninterrupted instrumental funk as much as the next Portlander.  But there’s something else that might just get you up and out to the Starday on Friday, April 6: Genghis the super rad bar dog.  Now I can’t promise that he’ll give you a private audience, but he has crashed the stage at least once during our gigs at the Starday.  And just look at that face!

Friday, April 6, 9:30 PM, No Cover.
